This guide addresses common queries related to FTP transfers and PGP encryption within our system. Explore essential information and solutions to streamline your FTP processes and effectively utilise PGP encryption for enhanced data security.
1. How can I secure FTP transfers with PGP encryption?
-
Navigate to the Management System and access the Company tab from the left-hand side menu. In the Miscellaneous section, click on the PGP Public Key button.
-
Upon clicking, a file named workritepublic.asc will be downloaded to your browser. Add this key to your PGP keyring and use it to encrypt your import files.
-
Encrypt your import files using the downloaded PGP public key. The encrypted file should have an extension of .pgp or .gpg, depending on your chosen encryption method.
-
Transfer the encrypted file into the FTP folder, replacing the plain text version. Do not sign the encrypted file, as FTP folders are already secured by IP restrictions and username/password protection.

Important: Avoid encrypting and signing files simultaneously, as the system will not recognize such files. Only encrypted files will be processed seamlessly.
2. How does your server handle the files?
When a file is sent to our server, the first file received each day is processed and subsequently deleted, irrespective of whether the import was successful. This means that even if the file fails to upload, it will still be deleted from the file server.
In the event that an organisation submits more than one file in a day, all additional files are relocated to the archive folder. A daily task is then executed to identify and delete any files that are older than 30 days.
